The word yoga originates from the Sanskrit word “yuj” which means to unite or integrate. Ancient yogis believed that in order for man to be in harmony with himself and his environment, he has to integrate the body, the mind and the spirit. For these three to be integrated his emotion, action and intelligence must be in balance.
The yogis formulated a way to achieve and maintain this balance and it is done through Asana, Pranayama and Meditation.
The Yoga Retreat Program
The Yoga retreat is aimed at anyone looking to gain a deeper insight into the practice of yoga while also seeking to empower oneself with the true knowledge of this science. In yoga, the body is treated with care and respect. The Yoga retreat and its elements will leave you feeling peaceful and relaxed.
The yoga Retreat classes are based primarily on the with elements of Ashtanga yoga.
However we also follow the latest trends in yoga styles like Vinyasa flow, AshtangaVinyasa primary series, Power yoga, Yin/ Restorative yoga, Therapeutic yoga, Facial yoga etc. and those of you interested can decide to book 1-1 classes as additional sessions depending on availability.
Asana & Pranayama - The Practice
Yogic physical exercises (asanas & pranayama) are designed to develop not only the body but also to broaden the mind and the spiritual capacities. Yoga retreat exercises focus on the health, strength and flexibility of the spine. The Asanas also have a balancing effect on each and every body system, internal organ and cell within the body.
Our yoga retreat has two physical sessions of ninety minutes each daily. The morning yoga tends to be more gentle and awakening with the practice of Jal Neti before each class. While the evening class is more intense and vigorous ending with relaxing meditation
Cleanse with Yoga & Detox
A well balanced practice of yoga is going to help with getting things moving in the body, and due to their work on the internal organs, can have a profound detoxing effect for the body.
Yogic breathing helps clear out carbon dioxide from the lung tissue, stimulates the organs of digestion and can, over time, retrain the diaphragm to move freely. The practise of yoga will also connect your mind with your body. Doing yoga helps purge toxic thoughts by teaching you to move your awareness away from the chaos of the mind and back to the present moment. That practice is not a basic component of other fitness pursuits.

Not only is it important to be a good yoga practitioner but adding value to the skill is knowing the theory behind it. Explained in a simple and concise manner the theory classes cover yoga philosophy, its principles and branches, and explains the yoga postures and its alignment.

A positive outlook on life can be developed by understanding the mind and learning and practicing the teachings on this retreat. Learning and mastering this unique and intriguing technique takes time and passion but its effects are profound. At Sanda’s Yoga retreat we give you a gist of the experience of meditation as we practice various techniques some of which include Soham Meditation, Om meditation, Yoga Nidra & Trataka.

The yoga retreat classes are designed with attention to each guest’s preferences and goals. With many years of experience and an in depth understanding, our yoga teachers provide support and guidance to beginners while those experienced will be encouraged to explore different levels, become more tuned to experience the body & mind connection to develop greater self-awareness.
We encourage you to work at your level of ability when doing the asanas (yoga postures) while maintaining close focus on breath body awareness, essential in the practice of yoga.
